Getting Dirty: Gathering Supplies for My Veggie Garden

I am going to try an post my updates for the Getting Dirty with Green & Clean Mom challenge every Thursday. Today is my second installment. Last week I bought my seeds; this week I got the rest of my supplies. My birthday is coming up at the end of this month (don't ask how old) so I asked for some gardening supplies like potting soil, fertilizer, etc. Being that my mom is an avid gardener, she picked them up for me and brought them over the other day.

Here is what she brought me: Miracle Grow organic potting soil, Miracle Grow organic plant food and a pack of 50 Jiffy mini peat pots. My tomato and pepper seeds require that I start them indoors 6-8 weeks before the last spring frost. So I will start them inside in the peat pots and then transplant them when the time is ready.

OK, so now what? Well, it beats me - I'm new to all of this! Luckily, mom will be visiting this weekend and we'll get the seeds in the peat pots going. I can't really do anything outside yet because it is still pretty darn cold. Though I do need to plan out where I am going to be planting everything outside.

So stay tuned for installment 3 next week. I'll be posting pictures of the peat pot project. Happy gardening!

  1. I love that soil, that is what I amusing this year for all of my house plants! They also have some liquid fertilizer that you can use every two weeks.
