Friday night was a big night for us. Our 6 year old finally lost his first tooth! I say finally because the darn thing has been loose for a good 2 months and just refused to come out. Then I noticed the new tooth already broke through behind it so we spent the last 2 weeks coaxing it out. Our son was not too thrilled with the pulling and prodding my husband and I were doing. Then, with a little nudge from daddy, it came out and he was ecstatic! We rinsed it and placed it in a litle box and he put it under his pillow.
Now Friday night is sleep over night in my house. This means that the 6 year old, who had his own room, goes in and sleeps in his brothers' bedroom. (The younger 3 share a room - not recommended by the way). Normally they horse around and make a lot of noise for a bit, and somehow the baby falls asleep through all of it, but not this night. No this night everyone was tired and ready for bed. There is an xtra twin bed in there and as I was tucking him in he says to me:
"Mommy, make sure you leave a note under my pillow so that the Tooth Fairy knows that I am having a sleepover with L & J!"
It was just such a sweet moment and it melted my heart. Moments like this make the rest of the insanity more than worth it.
Now the Tooth Fairy is my kind of lady. During the night she went in our attic and took out one of my small Star Wars Lego kits from many years ago. Yes, mine. And I still have them in boxes so they look new. See the Tooth Fairy is smart and all about Reusing. So she placed it under W's pillow along with a shiny new $1 coin.
The next morning I was awoken by an excited boy next to my bed. "Mommy, come in my room so I can show you something." So I pull myself out of bed and make my way down the hall to his room.
"Look, it's a Star Wars Lego toy!!!!! I didn't know the Tooth Fairy had these!
Yes our Tooth Fairy is a pretty cool chic who digs Star Wars. Now if only I really had wings.

What a cool tooth fairy! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's one cool tooth fairy.
ReplyDeleteTooth fairy visited here last week for the first time, too!! We do everything together, huh? (well almost) Our fairy left a note, a bag of chocolate candies, a dollar and a quarter. Gabe wanted coins and I wanted to leave a dollar... never thought of a dollar coin. smart woman!
ReplyDeleteLOL -- that is so cute and sweet. Good job, mama!
ReplyDeleteLove Star Wars. Wish I had that tooth fairy when I was losing teeth! Pretty cool lady!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job! I am so exited for when we get our first 'visit' I am already planning all the cool things we will do lol
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh,
ReplyDeleteIf the tooth fairy has star wars toys, I have no idea how we're going to survive as parents. That's the coolest prize ever!
We have those lego kits in the closet too!
You are so incredibly sweet! What a wonderful thing to do!
ReplyDeleteWow, my tooth fairy was never that cool.
ReplyDeleteoh what a sweet story!! Congrats to your little man - and good for you for saving that star wars toy for him! Good idea on the $1 coin. I'm gonna use that when my daughter gets a bit older.
ReplyDeleteYou are a good tooth fairy! I feel so badly if I forget. They start falling out like crazy now :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww cool!
ReplyDeleteAwwww. What a cool story! Your tooth fairy is definitely awesome!
ReplyDeleteI gotta say, though...I dread when my kids start losing their teeth. For whatever reason, that just grosses me out. I guess Daddy will get to have all the fun with that. ;-)
So cute! It won't be long till my little guy starts loosing his baby teeth too! They grow too fast, don't they?
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool. Sound slike he was super excited. Our tooth fairy isn't a big Star Wars fan. LOL. Shaun just stopped believing in the tooth fairy a few months back when he lost his tooth and I told him to put it in his tooth box for the tooth fairy. He said "ok" but I could tell something was up and when I asked him he told me he didn't believe in the tooth fairy and that it was just us putting money in the box. BUSTED! Dang it. At least for now we still have Santa but not sure for how much longer.
ReplyDeleteThis made me chuckle! What memories you are making.
ReplyDeleteI love this! We're getting ready for the tooth fairy's first visit, thanks to my 3 year old's injured tooth that will be getting extracted next week, so I've been searching for good ideas. I really like the idea of a fun little toy and the fact that it's reused is perfect!! Oh, and I've found this Mom's Guide to be so helpful as we've been dealing with dental issues, if you want to check it out. (http://www.1dental.com/moms-guide/) Thanks for your post.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am in love with your sleepover idea. What an amazing way to create memories and bonding among your children. My kids would love it... I'm going to borrow this idea! :)
