At some point during parenthood, we all have come face to face with a bedtime staller. If you haven't yet, trust me, you will. Now my kids don't usually flat out ask for an extra five minutes, they just really, REALLY procrastinate the bedtime routine. This one has to use the bathroom one more time. The other one has to say goodnight to the dog. Yet another one forgot to put on his slipper socks. Then the youngest one suddenly just NEEDS to wash his hands. Again. The majority of the time, you'll find me in the upstairs hallway during this mayhem repeatedly saying "hurry up and get in bed." But now Netflix has given me a really great idea that already has worked so much better. Now I can tell them that if they get everything done quickly and get in bed, they can watch an entire show on Netflix.
Now wait a minute, I don't want me kid to watch a 30 minute show right before bed! Well neither do I and that is why I love that Netflix and Dreamworks put together these 5-minute episodes of their hit show Dinotrux.
Dinotrux ‘5 Minute Favorites’
Tucking them in is magic, it’s just getting there that’s the hard part. So make bedtime a little easier with three new Dinotrux 5 Minute Favorites from Netflix.
What type of bedtime staller is your child?
Netflix put together a list of various types of stallers and I find it quite humoruos that each one of my kids fits into a different category. The six year old is always Soooo Thirsty, one of the twins (8) is Slow as Snails while the other is Master Negotiator and the ten year old is The Flatterer.
The Netflix original series Marvel’s Jessica Jones is the second of four epic live-action adventure series (Marvel’s Daredevil, which is now streaming, Marvel’s Luke Cage and Marvel’s Iron Fist, all leading up to the teaming of the main characters in Marvel’s The Defenders) to premiere only on Netflix. It is a suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade, as she faces demons from within and without. The drama will premiere with thirteen (13) one-hour episodes.
About Marvel's Jessica Jones:
After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases in New York City.
Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) is joined by an amazing cast including David Tennant (Kilgrave), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval, among others.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix is Executive Produced by series Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (“Twilight”, “Dexter”) and Liz Friedman ("Elementary"), along with Jeph Loeb ("Marvel's Daredevil," “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television.

Every Friday night in our home is family movie night where we watch something new together. It's a really nice tradition of pizza for dinner followed by whatever new family friendly movie we can find and some freshly popped organic popcorn. This past Friday we finally got the chance to watch Disney-Pixar's Inside Out for the first time. We have been wanting to watch this one since it released in theaters in June, so the boys were absolutely thrilled. And with a great cast of voices, as usual for Disney-Pixar, I was excited too!
Disney-Pixar's Inside Out is about 11 year old Riley and the emotions that are inside her head controlling her actions and reactions. It was defintely an interesting and fun take on human emotions that we got a kick out of. The most important test is the kid test and all four of my boys loved it. So much so that they watched it again on Saturday. And Sunday. And I'm sure they would watch it again today if they weren't in school. Their favorite character? Anger of course, because he generally screams and yells and is just plain funny. We also loved Bing Bong, Riley's imaginary friend, played by Richard Kind. He always does a fantastic job with his characters and has a great voice.
I too enjoyed the movie, though I do think it was different then the usual Disney-Pixar flick. Not in a bad way, mind you, it was just... different. I got a kick out of the way the feelings interacted with each other and how that played out for Riley in real time. Overall it was a great family movie and one I know they will continue to watch down the road.

One of the first things parents use on their newborn babies are baby wipes. But have you ever taken a moment to read the ingredients on your wipes before touching them to your baby's sensitive skin? It's not something that most people think about, I mean they're just wipes right? What could possible be on them that is bad? Sadly, many wipes are made with harsh ingredients and chemicals. Back when my kiddos were in diapers, my options were pretty limited in the natural wipes department. There was maybe one or two options out there and those just weren't affordable for us. So that is why I am such a huge supporter of WaterWipes chemical free baby wipes.
When I first tried WaterWipes earlier this year, they were only available at select Babies R Us stores. Sadly none of the stores within an hour of me carried it. But now they can be found at many Stop and Shop locations, which is wonderful for me since I am in that store at least once a week. So I was easily able to grab some while there doing my weekly grocery shopping. At my Stop and Shop here in Connecticut, WaterWipes were available in a 60 pack or a Value Pack which includes four 60 packs. To find WaterWipes near you, visit the WaterWipes Store Locator.
WaterWipes display at Stop and Shop.
Now even though my children (ages 5 to 10) are way past the diaper stage (thank goodness) that doesn't mean that baby wipes are no longer used at our house. Oh no, it is quite the opposite. Wipes are kept near the dining room table for quick clean up after snacks and meals and in each of the bathrooms so the boys can make sure they are nice and clean after doing their business. I even use baby wipes to clean up my dog after he goes for a walk. So see wipes are still widely used here and I love that WaterWipes contain only natural ingredients as I don't want chemicals anywhere near my family members (fury ones included).
A common assumption for natural personal care products and cleaning products is that the lack of chemicals means these product don't work as well as their unhealthy counterparts. In the case of WaterWipes as well as most natural products, that assumption is completely false. WaterWipes work just as well for us as our Kirkland wipes do. Halloween was just last weekend and do you know how messy four young boys tearing into chocolate can get? It has been unseasonably warm here and so they instantly had melted chocolate all over their hands and in their nails. Bleh. But WaterWipes took care of it quickly.
WaterWipes Value Pack
WaterWipes contain only two ingredients: 99.9% purified water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract. That's it. No long chemical names you can't pronounce, no preservatives and no alcohol. Ever try to clean the bum of a baby with diaper rash with a traditional wipe and they scream bloody murder? That's because most wipes contain some form of alcohol and that stuff burns. You don't have to worry about that alcohol burn with WaterWipes
It is also important to note that since there are no yucky preservatives in these wipes, they do have an expiration date. An unopened package will keep for about 15 months, the packs have an expiration date printed on them. It is recommended that an open pack be used up within a month. Since I don't know any parent that doesn't go through nearly a pack or two of wipes a week, I don't see that as ever being an issue.
